VALLEY — Friday’s annual auction fundraiser for Valley Haven School generated over $8,200 for the Hike/Bike/Run and pushed the total more than halfway to the overall goal of $100,000.
“I feel pretty good about meeting our goal,” Valley Haven Executive Director Craig Brown said. “By far, the biggest portion comes from the pledges on Hike/Bike/Run Day.”
That will be this coming Saturday, May 5. The Hike/Bike/Run always takes place on Kentucky Derby Day, or the first Saturday in May.
At 6 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, the annual Bowling for Valley Haven will be taking place. This is always a fun event hosted by Valley Bowl. The big event will be on Saturday.
“The Hike/Bike/Run is always an exciting day for the whole family,” said Brown. “It’s something you won’t want to miss and will be taking place at Valley Haven School.”
Registration will be taking place at 7 a.m. EDT. There will be a flag-raising ceremony directed by Post 67 of the American Legion. The first event of the day will be the annual Jane Carmack Memorial Walk, starting at 8 a.m. and covering an estimated seven miles. The 5k race starts at 8:25 a.m., a five-mile walk at 8:30, the one-mile run at 8:45, bike rides of 10 miles and 20 miles will get under way at 9 o’clock and the 10.5k run at 9:15 a.m.
“If you have your pledges and would like to go ahead and register, you can do that at the school from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Friday. The top Hike/Bike/Run fundraisers will win prizes,” Brown said. “Make plans to come out and be with us on Saturday, May 5. You will be helping the school and will have a lot of fun being there. You can help the school by taking part in any of the scheduled events. Free food will be provided to all participants, and there will be free games for the kids.”
