HUGULEY — Mr. Benjamin F. Cole, Sr., 81, a resident of Huguley community, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. EDT from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, Ala. with Rev. Frank Chappel officiating.  Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. EDT at the Waverly Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Cole is survived by his wife, Donna Cole; children, Benjamin Cole, Jr. (Anita), Acton Cole (Michelle), Melvin Cole (Tammy) and Sandy Guthrie (Jason); 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodson and Sara Brown Cole, a brother, Woodson Cole, Jr., and sisters Louise Baker and Kathleen White.

Mr. Cole was born in Opelika, Ala. on November 16, 1936.  Mr. Cole was a retired truck driver.  He served in the U.S. Navy as well as the U.S. Army Reserve.  He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved his cat, “Cornbread.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice, Valley Ala.
