MR. Tommy Taylor Smith

LaFAYETTE — Tad was born Tommy Taylor Smith, II on August 23, 1966. He passed away on May 5, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Taylor Smith; both sets of grandparents, Dewey Taylor Smith and Lola Treadwell Smith; Charlie Guinn Harris and Betty Shelnutt Harris; one aunt, Cheri Harris Wilkerson, and one nephew, Jamie Andrews.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna Andrews Smith; one son, Matthew Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Katherine Lowe Thomas; four grandsons, Thad Nelson, Asa Robert, Wade Harris, Jax Taylor (his namesake). They called him Pop.

Tad also leaves behind his mother and father, Marigwen and Linnie Walls; four sisters, Shanan (Boone) Atkinson, a niece, Allie Herndon and nephew, Andrew Molnar; Megan (David) Dover, nephew Owen Dover, nieces Olivia and Charlotte Dover; Laura (Marshall) Lowman, Leann (Jonathan) King, one best friend and brother-in-law, James Andrews; his nephew Zachary, niece Brandi (Josh) McCoy, Logan and Annabelle McCoy; his aunts, Glenda (James) Huckaby, Wanda (Clay) Marlow, June (Bob) Hopkins, Stari (David) Harrison, Wendy (Donnie) Kimble, and Dot (the late Palmer) Allen. He left dozens of cousins and so many friends.

Tad was a member of the Masons and owner of Tad’s Handyman Service for more than 20 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette and a former member of the Volunteer Fire Department.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. CDT) at First Baptist Church of LaFayette. The visitation took place on Monday evening 5-7 p.m. CDT  at Jeff Jones Funeral Home of LaFayette.
