VALLEY — Mrs. Virginia Irene Stearns, 85, of Valley passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the LaFayette Extended Care in LaFayette, Ala.

Mrs. Stearns was born in Sargent, Ga. on August 3, 1932 to the late Sam Harper and Addie Mae Armstrong Harper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, James W. Stearns; grandchildren, Teia Smith, Heath Reaves, and Little John Stearns.

Mrs. Stearns was a member of the Blanton Baptist Church.  She worked and retired from WestPoint Pepperell.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed doing work in her yard.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia S. (Mike) Reaves, Ricky (Patricia) Stearns, Johnny Stearns; grandchildren, Jamie Reaves, Brandy Butler and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. Central) at the Beulah Cemetery in Beulah.  The Rev. Jim Dykes will officiate.  Her family will be receiving friends at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley Thursday evening from 6 p.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT.
