On Saturday, May 19 Plant City Baptist Church hosted the Priscilla Shirer live Simulcast. The morning began with a delicious breakfast prepared by the ladies of the church.
The service began at 9 a.m. with a spirited music service.
The program featured Priscilla and her brother, Tony Evans.
Tony thrilled everyone with his singing and song selections.
Priscilla gave an anointed message based on Luke 2:22–34. She spoke on Simeon and how his righteous and devout life led him to recognize Jesus as the Messiah when Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple as a baby.
She explained that sometimes God comes to us in a package that we do not recognize because we are looking for something much less than what God has in store for us. Sometimes our eyes are closed.
She closed her message with prayer that we always have eyes to see when god sends us a solution.
After a delicious lunch catered by Terri Culpepper of “Terri’s Mill Village Café” in Valley, the afternoon session began with more music and singing.
Priscilla’s message for the afternoon was titled ‘The 5 P’s of Hearing God through the Bible.”
1. Position yourself to hear from God.
2. Pore over the passage, and paraphrase the major points.
3. Pull out the spiritual principles.
4. Pose the question
5. Plan obedience, and pin down the date.
This message gave everyone a fresh approach to their Bible study time.
The closing session was titled “The Diary of Private Prayer.”
Priscilla spoke on how Simeon went to the temple because he was in the Spirit. The spirit ruled Simeon. The Spirit rested on Simeon but was not in him. When we believe in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit, we have the Spirit living in us. The Spirit revealed the promise to Simeon the he would see Christ. The Spirit living in us also assures us that we will see Christ.
Everyone enjoyed this simulcast and received a real blessing from it. The church hopes to continue with other simulcasts next year.
