West Point man charged in Lotto Store robbery
WEST POINT — An arrest has been made in the April 20 armed robbery at the Lotto Store, located in downtown West Point.
Kelvarski “Guru” Barnes, 25, of West Point, has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm during the commission 0f, or attempt to commit, a felony.
Barnes was arrested Thursday after a brief foot chase on Avenue E, and transported to the Troup County jail.
According to a West Point Police Department report, the armed robbery took place at approximately 11 a.m. EDT Friday, April 20 at the Lotto Store, which is located in the back of the former Bank of America building on West 3rd Avenue.
The initial investigation revealed that a black male had entered the store and demanded money from a store clerk. The subject was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled in the direction of the Georgia-Alabama state line on West 4th Avenue.
