Team WHIP (Working to Help Those in Pink), a local breast cancer organization, will host Mardi Gras for Ta-Tas from 3 to 9 p.m. EDT, Friday, June 29th on the playground across from W.O. Lance Elementary School. At the present time, WHIP is seeking donors, vendors, healthcare professionals and volunteers for assistance. › The Christian Service Center is open from 8 a.m. till noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It’s open on Tuesdays by appointment and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. To apply for assistance, you will need to bring your current electric bill and a photo ID. The Center is currently accepting donations of children’s clothing that’s in good condition.

Volunteer training will be offered by Chattahoochee Hospice from 9 a.m. till noon EDT June 18-22 at the Hospice office located at 6 Medical Park North in Valley. › A monthly dementia support group meets at 6:30 p.m. EDT on the first Tuesday of the month at the Chattahoochee Hospice office, located at 6 Medical Park N0rth in Valley. A monthly grief support group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the Hospice office. For more information, call (334) 756-8043.

› The renewal of animal licenses in the City of Valley began on Friday, June 1, 2018. These licenses can be purchased at the city clerk’s office at city hall. The fee for the license will depend on the age of the animal and whether they have been spayed or neutered. Every animal that’s at least four months of age must have a license. If they have been spayed or neutered, the fee is $10 for animals under 12 months of age and $5 for older animals.

› The West Point Active Life Center is a recreation center for independent adults who are at least 55 years of age. Lunch is provided five days a week for those who are 60 and older. There’s also activities, games, billiards, quilting, exercise classes, trips and every Wednesday, FREE BINGO at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The Active Life Center serves West Point and the surrounding area. Come check us out. We’re open from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The center is located at 1114 O.G. Skinner Drive, West Point. For information, call (706) 645-3580.

GriefShare, a special help seminar and small group support for people experiencing grief and loss, is being held on Sunday evenings at The Bridge Church. There will be no meeting on Sunday, June 17th, which is Father’s Day.

› The Lanett City Council will have their next meeting at 6 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 18th. The next meeting of the Chambers County Commission will be at 4 p.m. CDT (5 Eastern) on Monday, June 18.

› The Valley Farmers’ Market is open from 3 to 6 p.m. EDT every Friday afternoon through the growing season. There will be at least five Alabama farmers there this Friday with such items as peaches, beets, onions, collards, squash, red potatoes, turnips, strawberries, fresh bread and baked goods.

› Bradshaw-Chambers County Library invites adults to join in on a fun time for bingo and prizes. It will be taking place at 11:30 a.m. EDT on Friday, June 22. No reservation is required, and lunch will be served.
