LaFAYETTE — The city has announced annual fire hydrant maintenance and flow testing for a period starting June 26 and running until July 13.
According to a press release, the city of LaFayette Water, Sewer and Fire Protection Department will be conducting fire hydrant maintenance and flow testing on its water system between the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Flow testing may result in the temporary discoloration of water. Discolored water is not an unusual side effect of flow testing, nor does it indicate any type of problem in the water system. Flow testing is a routine procedure that results in improved water service for users.
Residents are advised not to wash light-colored clothes if their water is stained or discolored.
They are also advised to not park in close vicinity of hydrants and try to remain clear of testing areas when in progress.
Those with questions can call the City of LaFayette Water and Wastewater Superintendent Richard Chapman at (334) 234-1648 or City Hall at 334-864-7181.
