VALLEY — Mr. John Russell Thrower Jr., a 69-year-old resident of Valley, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at EAMC-Lanier Hospital.

Mr. Thrower was born Friday, January 7, 1949, in Langdale, Ala., the son of the late John Russell and Jesse Ferrell Thrower. He was a graduate of Auburn University with a Masters degree in Education. Mr. Thrower was a vice principal and principal with Chambers County School District.

Survivors include his son Jay Thrower; his partner of 35 years, Frankie Stringfellow, and his sister and brother-in-law, Cornelia and Harmon King.

The family will celebrate Mr. Thrower’s life in private and ask that contributions be made to the Chattahoochee Humane Society.
