Valley man discovered shot in West Point

WEST POINT — A Valley man has been reported dead by West Point Police officers after officers found the man shot Wednesday evening.
At approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, members of the West Point Police and Fire departments responded to 1013 Dogwood Circle concerning a subject sitting on a porch with a firearm. When they arrived they discovered a black male sitting on the porch, unresponsive, having suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim has been identified as Reggie Pearson, 50, of Valley. Assistance was called in to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Troup County Coroner’s Office.
This investigation is still ongoing.
As of 9:45 a.m. ET Thursday, repeated calls to the West Point Police Department seeking additional information had not been returned.
