Drowning of Valley man being investigated

LEE COUNTY – A Valley man was pronounced dead Saturday evening following a possible drowning in Lee County.
According to a report by Lee County Coroner Bill Harris, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call to a residence on Lee Road 785 on Lake Harding to a possible drowning.
Beulah Fire and Rescue and EAMC EMS began a search upon arrival for Mark Frazer Sinks, 57, of Valley, whose body was discovered in the water a few feet from shore by an EAMC EMS paramedic about 50 minutes after the call came in.
Harris pronounced Sinks dead at the scene at 8:55 p.m.
Sinks was reported as going into the water after cutting grass and when his wife could not find him she called 911.
An investigation is ongoing and no other details are available at this time.
Sinks’ body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences medical examiner’s office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination.
