VALLEY — Valley Parks and Recreation’s nine and 10-year-old team had quite a run in district, regional and state play this year.
They won tournaments in Reeltown and Russell County to get to the state tournament, where they won two games and lost two. There were 16 teams there from all across Alabama. The team was awarded the R.L. Corley Sportsmanship Trophy for the manner they conducted themselves throughout the tournament.
“We had a big crowd of parents, friends and family members supporting us all the way,” Coach Jay Siggers said. “We appreciated that so much. We had a great group of kids and parents this year.”
On Monday, members of the team received certificates from the Valley City Council.
