What’s been going on in our neck of the woods

HUGULEY — Hello Huguley friends, I am glad you decided to stop back by today and check out whatever has been going on in our neck of the woods.

We have been just like you…getting plenty of rain, nearly every day for just a little while every day. We were pleasantly surprised when we got two days in a row without rain.  I know with Willard still cutting a few yards, he is still being kept busy.

If you are interested in earning a tad of pocket change, we really could use a younger guy to do some weed eating. That weed eater nearly does him in! Please contact me and I will get you in touch with him. I really mean this. He is about ready to give it all up just because he can’t keep up with the weed eating. Call me.

The Happy Citizens from Happy Valley Baptist got together for one of our bi-monthly meetings last Tuesday. We enjoyed playing BINGO for a bit and we took a tiny break to take some time to reflect on a time when we were so much younger and related one memory each from our childhoods.

Having been raised during the latter years of the Depression, it left some really strong memories in our hearts. It was very interesting, listening to how we all took the adversity of the Depression to become stronger people. You’ve heard it said “that which does not kill us will only make us stronger.” I believe that. All the things we have gone through have made us into the adults we are today.

We then finished the rest of the BINGO games and had a delicious meal. We meet the second and fourth Tuesday’s at 11:30 am. There is always plenty of good food and fellowship.

This past week we had Jack and Sue Nolen, Jeanette Tilley, Susan and Willard Eason, James and Levonia Looney, Jeri Younger,

I hope you had the opportunity to view that gorgeous full moon Thursday night. It was awesome!

We watch some of the young families we know as they are raising their babies and I am taken back to the years that we were raising our kids. They are doing the very same things with their children. It was before kids walked around with electronic devices 24/7.

We are getting to see kids as they play outside and actually get dirty as they play. They are planting vegetables, raising meat for their tables, they actually have chores, but they love the way they are being raised. It is great watching them. They are growing into great young folks.

Your news could have been right here but I missed your call. Call me at 706-773-6550. See you next week.
