Well, here we are again friends, sitting here watching all the little ones getting back into the swing of another school year.

As I get older, these first of the school year columns seem to get closer together. Kids don’t realize just how very special these young years are. They will be gone before they know it and then they will join us sitting on the porch watching another generation go off to school. It is what it is.

I was glad to see some pictures the other day of some excited children as they were going into the school for the first day of the school year. They were greeted and encouraged to have a great day by several men and women from Happy Valley Baptist Church.

The School Encouragement group has a calendar letting folks know when they will be gathering to wish the students a great day/week/year in their schools. Find one and maybe you can join them. All kids need an encouraging word every once in a while.

As you might have noticed, the weather at night has begun to cool off. Please be very aware that this is the season for snakes to be out and about. Please be aware of this and be very careful. I am all about being safe. even in our neighborhoods. Please be aware of folks moving around in your neighborhood that really don’t belong there. I heard a lady say the other day that she was watching in her neighborhood and the person walking around their neighborhood actually got mad at HER! But, the lady that lived in the neighborhood was actually just making sure things were on the up and up in the area.

Our dogs really come in handy with keeping unwelcome visitors from our yard. Three yard yappers and two really big go getters pretty much keep our area calm.  That is what we got them for.

Can I make an observation here? Please be very aware when our First Responders are out and about doing their job. Try to never get in the way of the rescue teams.

I don’t know the stats on accidents that are caused by folks trying to get a better look at whatever is going on. Never get in the way; it might just be one of your family members they are helping.
