Starting next week, The Valley Times-News will have additional content coming to the sports section in the form of full-color pages covering SEC football and NASCAR.

Specifically, the upcoming NASCAR content will run as the last page of the paper on Tuesdays and SEC coverage will be found as our last page on Fridays, beginning next week and lasting through the duration of college football season.

For the past several months, the newspaper has been making efforts to update the look and feel of the news we put out, with a tighter focus on local coverage above all else. This has led to a decrease in the amount of national sports coverage that many of our readers had become accustomed to.

Those readers have expressed a desire for this content to return, which is always appreciated by the newspaper staff. Including more national and regional sports coverage has been one of the most consistent requests throughout the past six months.

We are happy to be able to meet that request.

The NASCAR page will contain not only the top race stories from the week, but current standings as well as upcoming races, top picks, responses from drivers and much more.

The SEC content will include such features as Game of the Week, Power Rankings, Best of the Best and game statistics under the heading “By the Numbers.” This has been a staple of fall coverage in the Valley Times-News in past years, and is content we are pleased to be able to continue to provide.

This content will be available in color each week, giving readers an enhanced experience.
