WEST POINT — When the Irish Bred Pub in downtown West Point closed in 2017, many wondered how long the building would remain empty and who would take its place.
Now six months after opening, Joe’s Tex Mex is changing things up.
According to Manager Victoria Vargas, things have been pretty good since the April opening.
“We’ve been building a relationship with local businesses and schools,” she said, recalling the various discounts offered to companies like Kia and Hyundai and groups like law enforcement and the military. “We’ve also gotten a lot of compliments on our food. People like the freshness.”
Vargas recalled three dishes that are particularly popular: the Holy Guacamole!, the Old Faithful Burrito and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla.
“They’re not really offered elsewhere,” she said.
Currently, there are plans to update the menu with new featured dishes including a Fajita Quesadilla.
“Keep an eye out for our new menu,” Vargas said.
Joe’s is also one of the few downtown locations where spirits are offered and to take advantage of that, several specialty drinks and specials are offered.
“Tequila is our most popular [spirit],” Vargas said.
When asked what her favorite drink at Joe’s was, the manager said her personal favorite was the Spicy Watermelon, which consists of tanteo jalapeno flavored tequila, watermelon liquor, agave nectar and freshly squeezed lime.
Vargas also noted that the house margarita, called Casa de Joe, is also a favorite amongst patrons.
“We offer really good customer service and nearly all of our hosts are Point University students,” she said. “They’re a good team and we work around their schedules. We’re like a family here.”
Besides the seating and bar area first seen upon entering, Joe’s also has room for large groups.
Joe’s Tex Mex is located at 727 North 3rd Avenue West, West Point, Georgia.
