VALLEY — Mrs. Julia Lee Hurst, 74, a resident of Valley, Ala., passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. EDT from the Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Bass officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicky Strickland (Darryl); two grandchildren, Kayla Peavy (Cory), and David Strickland (Lindsay); great-granddaughter Evelyn Peavy; two sisters, Anniemae Robinson (J.C.), and Christine Simpson (Sammie).  She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lynwood Hurst; a son, David Scott Hurst; her parents, Robert and Mary Barnett, and a sister, Carolyn Ferguson.

Mrs. Hurst was born on September 6, 1944 in Goodwater, Ala.  She retired from WestPoint Stevens as an accounting clerk.  She loved to make crafts.  She was fond of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
