Mrs. Lurline Hamby

VALLEY — Mrs. Lurline Hamby, 88, of Valley, Ala. passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at her residence.  She was born on Jan. 10, 1930 in Chambers County, Ala. to the late Otis and Irene Hood. 

Mrs. Hamby is survived by her son, Tony (Connie Striblin) Albright of Valley; her grandson, Derick (Melissa) Albright of Valley; her three great-grandchildren, Justin, Payton, and Phillip James Albright, all of Valley; her sister, Lillian Walden of Lanett, Ala.; her three brothers, Wayne (Sandra) Hood of Valley, Cecil Hood of Fredonia, Ala., and Hugh (Geraldine) Hood of Lanett; a special friend, George Fetner of Valley; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Hamby; son, Phillip Albright; brother, William Hood; and sister, Sue McCain.

Mrs. Hamby was a member of the Lanett Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.  She worked in and retired from the Lanett Mill Weave Room. She loved her family.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at 3 p.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Kent Pelton officiating.  Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.  The family received friends Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
