TYRONE – They’re still perfect.
The Troup Tigers improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 5-AAAA with a 35-21 road win over the Sandy Creek Patriots on Friday night.
Sandy Creek scored first, but Troup notched five unanswered touchdowns to take a 35-7 lead in the fourth quarter.
The Patriots found the end zone twice in the closing moments to make the final score more respectable.
Trailing 7-0, Troup tied it late in the first quarter on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Kobe Hudson to Jamari Thrash.
Midway through the second quarter, it was Hudson finding Ja’Rell Smith for a 15-yard touchdown, and Troup led 14-7.
Hudson then did it with his legs, taking off on a 70-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 21-7 lead, and that was the score at the half.
In the second half, Troup got it done on the ground.
Trey Williams had a 4-yard touchdown run with 4:25 left in the third quarter to give Troup a 28-7 lead.
Tyree Carlisle capped the scoring for Troup with a short touchdown run in the fourth quarter, and Helsyn Martinez made his fifth extra point.
Troup is off next week, and it will play LaGrange on Oct. 12.
