Hurricane to make landfall today

Hurricane Michael was expected to continue strengthening overnight before making landfall on the Florida panhandle Wednesday afternoon.

The Valley area should expect to start seeing wind and rain from the storm as early as Wednesday evening, although the timing and track of the storm are subject to change.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, Chambers County should expect to see around an inch of rain.

The Chambers County Emergency Management Agency forecasts peak wind gusts of 29 to 32 miles per hour.

The storm is forecasted to move into Florida Wednesday and then take a rightward turn through Georgia. Alabama Gov.

Kay Ivey issued a statewide of emergency Tuesday.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal issued a state of emergency for 92 counties, not including Troup County.
