Lanett and Chambers Academy keep positions, Beulah still out of state rankings

Teams in the Greater Valley Area stood pat in this week’s Alabama Sports Writer Association (ASWA) high school football rankings.

Lanett High School remains the 1A No. 1 after a 32-20 victory over Handley last Friday night. The Panthers now have a bye week that was much needed at the team’s regular-season midpoint, head football coach Clifford Story, Jr. said. The team will return to the field next Friday night to host Loachapoka for homecoming.

Chambers Academy also remains the AISA No. 4 after a 35-7 victory over Kingwood Christian last Friday night. The Rebels have won 31 regular season games in a row and return home to host Pickens Academy this week.

The Bobcats of Beulah High School remained outside of the 3A state rankings after last week’s bye. The team is one of two undefeated teams remaining in the Greater Valley Area with Chambers Academy, standing at 5-0. The team will travel to face 2-3 Bullock County this week.

LaFayette also remains on the outside looking in of the 2A rankings after a 41-20 bounce-back win against Notasulga last week. The Bulldogs will host 1-4 Fayetteville this Friday night.
