Barber leads Wildcat scorers, Springwood improves to 5-2

HARPERSVILLE — Springwood traveled to Harpersville to challenge the Lady Rebels from Coosa Valley in the first game after the week long break for Thanksgiving. SW trialed 9-8 after the first quarter…then led by one at halftime by a score of 16-15.
The third quarter proved to be the decisive quarter as the Lady Wildcats outscored Coosa Valley 22-5 to take a commanding 38-20 lead and maintained the margin throughout the fourth quarter to claim the 46-29 win helping them earn their fifth victory (5-2) of the season. Coosa Valley fell to 3-2.
Springwood was led in scoring by junior guard McKayla Barber with 16 points. Sophomore post player Courtney Easlick helped the Lady Wildcats throughout the game with her rebounding but in the third quarter she also scored all 10 of her points. The Lady Wildcats had multiple steals and forced several turnovers in the impressive 8 minutes of play.
Others scoring for Springwood included Andie Martin with 8, Emily Drake with 6, Dee Williams added 4 and Merredith Woodham had 2.
Springwood travels to Edgewood Academy in Wetumpka on Thursday for their next game.
