Mr. Bobby D. Sanders

LANETT — Mr. Bobby D. Sanders, 86, of Lanett, Ala. passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at Bethany House in Auburn, Ala. He was born on July 22, 1932 in Lanett.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his three children, Donald (Rhonda) Sanders, Billy (Susan) Sanders, and Beth (Dan) Hamby; his sister, Helen Blankenship; his nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Bea Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn F. Sanders; two grandchildren, Emily Wright and Matt Sanders; and his great granddaughter, Tiffany Wyrosdick.
Mr. Sanders was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett. He retired from WestPoint Pepperell as a supervisor in the Lanett Bleachery & Dye Works after many years of service. He enjoyed fishing and making fish baskets. He was affectionately known throughout the community as “the fish basket man.” He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, WWE Wrestling, and football, where he would pull for his favorite team, the one that was winning.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett. The Rev. Todd Quintard and the Rev. Rusty Letson will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley.
