Mrs. June Auchmuty Townsend Motley

DECATUR, Ga. — June Auchmuty Townsend Motley, 81, of Decatur, Ga. passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 from complications of dementia. She was born in LaGrange Ga. on August 26, 1937.

June was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates, Ga. and the chancel choir. She was a teacher for 35 years in the City of Atlanta and was loved by everyone who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab for all their help. June was preceded in death by her parents, James and Amelia Auchmuty, and her first husband, Rance Townsend.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Motley; her brother, Jim (Sue) Auchmuty, her sister, Jane (Jack) Johnston; brothers-in-law David Motley, Jim (Julelleyn) Motley and Larry (Shirley) Motley and a number of nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services were held Monday Dec. 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. EST at the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Ga. Burial followed at 4 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Lanett, Ala.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates. The family received friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday Dec. 31, 2018 at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur.

A.S. Turner and Sons was in charge of the arrangements.
