A teen has died following a single-vehicle accident in Beulah in late November.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris confirmed that 19-year-old Valley resident Case Robert Hoiness passed away early Wednesday morning due to injuries he sustained from the Nov. 26 accident. He was being treated in the intensive care unit of Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center for complications with multiple blunt force impact injuries.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 8:34 p.m. on Lee Road 270 in Beulah. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a press release that troopers had responded to a two-vehicle crash and attempted to make contact with the drivers. One of the drivers, Hoiness, attempted to flee and troopers found his 2011 Toyota Tacoma crashed 2.5 miles away.

Hoiness had apparently lost control of the vehicle before it left the roadway, overturning several times and ejecting him from the vehicle, Harris said in a press release. He was airlifted to Columbus and remained in the ICU until his passing Wednesday morning.

The accident is still under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s office and the Alabama State Troopers.
