A Lanett man has been charged with multiple sexual abuse charges stemming from an alleged incident with a juvenile, according to the Lanett Police Department.

Lucious Cheeks, 42, was arrested Wednesday on charges of sodomy first degree and two counts of sexual abuse first degree.

Police responded to the East Alabama Medical Center-Lanier hospital Tuesday in response to a juvenile patient who had been a victim of a sexual assault in Lanett. Authorities say detectives launched an investigation into the incident and arrested Cheeks a day later.

It was also discovered he had pending arrest warrants for domestic violence third degree and a failure to pay for a driving under the influence charge in Lanett.

After the arrest, Cheeks was taken to the Lanett Police Department for booking and then was taken to the Chambers County Jail.
