Mrs. Laura Spencer Grossman

WEST POINT — Laura Spencer Grossman, 57, of West Point passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at West Georgia Hospice.

Laura was born in Greensboro, N.C. on April 2, 1961. She grew up in the Atlanta area and graduated from Druid Hills High School. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga.

Laura was married to Michael A. Grossman, M.D. on June 12, 2010. She moved to West Point after their marriage and grew to love the area. She made some irreplaceable friendships.

Laura enjoyed a successful 30­-year career in the mortgage business before moving to West Point. It was there that she was the manager for Dr. Grossman’s office. She was also actively involved in the West Point Women’s Club, where she was an active member and served as president. She was also a board member for the Chattahoochee Humane Society.

Laura is survived by her husband, Michael A. Grossman; daughter Ansley C. Irvin; three step­children, Cheryl Grossman, Michael Grossman Jr. and Lola Grossman; her grandson, Kade Irvin; mother, Harriet F. Spencer; three brothers, Mike Spencer, Patrick Spencer and Danny Spencer; several nieces and nephews, and other family members and dear friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, Forrest J. Spencer.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in Laura’s name atwww.JDRF.org. The family of Laura S. Grossman wishes to thank the kind staff at West Georgia Hospice and DaVita of Troup County.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST at Johnson Brown­-Service Funeral Home in Valley. A formal funeral service will be held in Atlanta at a time to be announced by Turner Funeral Home with a small, private graveside burial at Decatur Cemetery near Atlanta.
