Police investigating West Point home invasion

WEST POINT — The West Point Police Department and investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations are investigating a home invasion that took place on Friday.

According to a press release, officers responded to an address on 6th Avenue in reference to a home invasion at 11:37 p.m. Friday night. Three individuals entered the home with unidentified weapons and attempted to rob the residents who were there.

“There were two [residents] there at the time,” said West Point Investigator Ann Okeson. “The residents called officers. We are looking for anyone who can reach out with more information.”

The intruders fled before police could intervene, and Okeson said there are no leads as to who the intruders are, what their intent was or why they chose the house on 6th Avenue in particular. One of the victims received minor injuries, but no information could be given as to the severity of the injury or the weapons used. The crime is still under investigation.
