Sexual assault and burglary lead to arrest

LaFAYETTE — A 43-year-old man has been arrested on sexual assault charges after an alleged incident from this past weekend, according to the LaFayette Police Department.
Jamie Meadows has been charged with rape in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, domestic violence assault first degree, domestic violence by strangulation and interference with an emergency call.
Authorities said the police responded to a reported break in and sexual assault, which was related to an ongoing dispute this past weekend. According to arrest records from the police department, the incident happened on B Street S.W. in LaFayette.
Police say the victim has been treated at the hospital and has since been released, and that all aspects of the incident are still under investigation.
