LaFAYETTE — The Chambers Academy girls varsity basketball team ran out of gas in a 37-23 loss to Edgewood on Friday night.

“I think we were tired,”  Chambers girls head basketball coach Brandi Fuller said. “We had a couple of players out tonight. A couple of players who were sick, a couple of players who were gone, I only had two subs tonight.”

Sophomore Brittany Stephens led the Rebels with 11 points, while senior Tate Reese was the team’s second-leading scorer, adding 7 points herself. Reese was recognized after the game for senior night.

“She has rebounded all year long,” Fuller said of Reese. “Her and Brittany both.”

Fuller said that while the team played hard, the Rebels’ poor shooting was a concern for her.

“At halftime, we had missed 11 free throws,” she said. “We missed a lot of shots, but we played hard. We rebounded. I think our rebounding is one of our stronger assets.”

After completing the back-to-back-to-back tomorrow at Cornerstone, Chambers prepares for next week’s area tournament.

“I told them to get home, and get to bed,” a smiling Fuller said, before laughing. “We don’t play the 1 p.m. game [on Saturday], so it’s not like we have to rush and get down there early I think we’ll be ok.”
