LaFAYETTE — Mr. Joseph H. Green, 95, of LaFayette died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Mr. Green was born in Gay, Georgia on Feb. 2, 1924, to the late Lucien Green and the late Leila Green. He graduated from Auburn University and retired from the Chambers County School District after a 40-year career in education. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in LaFayette. He loved farming, working in his garden, fishing and traveling.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. CST at the Penton Church Of God Cemetery with Joyce Harralson officiating.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ussery of LaFayette; two nieces, Jeannie Lee George and Melissa Page Crowe, both of Boca Raton, Florida and a nephew, Anthony Ben George of Marcoot, Alabama.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Green, and a sister, Gwendolyn Yvetta Green George.
