Mr. Steve Stewart

LANETT — Mr. Steve Stewart, 61, of Lanett passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Stewart was born at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, S.C. on March 11, 1957 to Betty Torrance Stewart and the late Roy Gherson Stewart.   He was also preceded in death by a sister, Deanna Bleier.

Mr. Stewart attended Southern Union State Community College earning an Associate Degree in electrical engineering. He went on to work for the West Point Foundry, where he traveled the world working for the company. He also worked for the Kimberly­-Clark Corporation in Columbus, Ga. as an electrical engineer.

Steve enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman.  He read his Bible every day and was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his son, Stephen J. Stewart, Jr.; his mother, Betty L. Stewart; siblings Deborah Stewart, Roy G. Stewart Jr., Ralph A. Stewart, Nicole S. Royal, and Tiffany A. Chambers, five grandchildren, and his dogs, “Baby Girl” and “Buddy.”

A graveside service was held on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. EST at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.  The Rev. Mark McCarty will officiate.  The family will visit with friends after the graveside service.
