Building on St. Patrick’s Day success

St. Paddy’s on the River was held for the first-time last year in West Point, and by all accounts it was a rousing success.

It was estimated at the time that thousands of people participated in the numerous activities, which included face painting, inflatables and other games.

We’re guessing officials are hoping for an even bigger crowd this year, when the second event is held Saturday in West Point from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be food vendors, lots of good fun and hopefully good weather.

The cost is $10 for all-day wristbands.

Anyone that wants to have a little more St. Patrick’s Day fun can also head for downtown LaGrange on Saturday night, where the Main Street block party will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Overlook Plaza stage next to Wild Leap will also have entertainment from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

The LaGrange event will include Irish dancers from Drake Irish Dance and live music from Mr. Teriffic and The Storydwellers.

There will be many free activities, including corn hole, sidewalk chalk, photo props and other fun.

We hope you’ll get out to one or both of these events on Saturday. They both do an excellent job at bringing the community together for family fun. Oh, and don’t forget to wear green.
