LaFAYETTE — Chambers County residents wanting to get rid of old electronics will have the opportunity in early April.
Chambers County Commissioner Sam Bradford said for the past two years, Chambers County and the Valley City Council has partnered together to recycle electronics.
“It has been very successful and keeps computers and washing machines from being dumped on rural roads, and it helps the environment,” Bradford said.
On April 1 through April 5, Chambers County will take old electronics at the county’s highway department from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CDT each day at the highway department. The highway department will stay open an extra hour and a half those days to accommodate those wanting to drop off electronics.
Amy Edmondson of the Chambers County Highway Department said the department will pretty much take anything with a cord.
She said they accept cell phones, laptops, household appliances, televisions, VCRS, prints and also tires.
The Chambers County Highway Department is located at 18107 Highway 431 North in Lafayette.
