CUSSETA — Mrs. Eleanor C. Shepherd, 81, of Cusseta passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Shepherd was born on Feb. 1, 1938 in Lanett, to the late Alton Colley and Maggie Lois Smith Colley.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, John E. Shepherd; two infant children; siblings Alicia Greene, Neville Colley, William Colley, Jerome Colley, and Larmie Colley.

Mrs. Shepherd attended The Bridge Church in Beulah. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, crocheting, and embroidery.  She also loved to travel and loved cooking and baking for her family and others.  Her favorite times of the year to cook and bake were during the festive seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  She and her late husband, John, were both very caring people who were always willing to help others who were in need.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Anita) Shepherd, Terry (Deanna) Shepherd; siblings Gaynor (Charles) Mitchell, Jim Arthur (Sandra) Colley, Kathleen (Paul) East, Beverly McClelland, Aulcie Colley, Deborah (Archie) Archuletta, Tedric (Jackie) Colley, Beric (Melanie) Colley, Donita (Gary) Walls; five grandchildren and two great ­grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. EST at the Johnson Brown­-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley.  The Rev. Bill Bryan will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. EST at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. EST.
