LANETT — A Lanett man was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in the 1100 block of South Gilmer Avenue, according to the Lanett Police Department.
James Anthony Owens, 54, was in a wheelchair and in all dark clothing when he was struck by the vehicle, police say. When the officer spoke with the driver of the vehicle, he said he thought he hit what looked like a box. When the driver exited his vehicle and realized it was a person, he called for help.
Police say it is unclear why Owens was in the road. He was flown to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. Authorities say they are unclear of his condition.
