The Valley Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday around 4:30 a.m. at the Circle K convenience store located at 2905 20th Avenue.

The store clerk told responding officers that a black male between 5-foot-8 and six-foot-tall entered the store with a shotgun. The clerk described the suspect as slender built and said he was wearing a black trench coat, a Nike/Alabama hat and a face covering. The clerk told police that he pointed the shotgun at her and told her to open the register. As the register opened, the suspect jumped the counter and took an undisclosed amount of currency from the register. The suspect then left the store and was last seen running on foot toward the back of the store. The clerk was unharmed.

Officers requested a tracking dog from the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, which tracked the suspect to a parking lot of a business behind Circle K.
