Lanett police searching for armed robbery suspect

The Lanett Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a white male involved in an armed robbery at a Lanett gas station Monday morning.
At about 8:45 a.m., a suspect identified by police as Karl Julian Rambo, Jr., 28, of Opelika, allegedly brandished a knife and ordered the clerk at the Marathon gas station, located at 2310 S. Broad Avenue, to give him an undisclosed amount of money. Rambo then ordered the clerk into the restroom and left the scene by taking the clerk’s car, according to the press release.
The police department said Rambo left the scene in a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu with Alabama tag number 43BK469.
Rambo was seen wearing a gray short sleeve shirt over a blue long sleeve shirt, gray or green cargo pants and a red University of Alabama hat. Rambo also has ties with Tennessee, according to the press release.
