Mr. Cecil Grady Hood — 1940-2019

CANTON, Ga. — Mr. Cecil Grady Hood, 78, of Canton, Georgia, and formerly of Lanett, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, in Marietta, Georgia.  He was born on June 8, 1940, in Troup County’s Gray Hill community.

Mr. Hood is survived by his wife, Fay Bowles Hood; his three children, Beth Hood (Mike) Siggers, Michael Grady (Judy) Hood, and Mark Edward Hood; his brother, Thomas Hood; his three grandchildren, Mary Siggers Torbett, Emily Grace Siggers, and Mallory Cecilia Hood; his two great-grandchildren, Emma Taylor Torbett and Sarah Grace Torbett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Woodhall Hood and Clara Cadenhead Hood and his brother, Richard Hood.

Mr. Hood was a former employee of Batson­-Cook Co., who over his 51 years of service worked his way up to the position of chief financial officer before his retirement.  He was of the Baptist faith. He was a great man and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. EDT at the graveside in the Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery near West Point.  The Rev. Mark McGee officiated. The family received friends Monday morning from 9:15 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown­-Service Funeral Home in Valley.  Donations may be made to one’s favorite charity in memory of Mr. Hood.
