MRs. beverly “Baby Doll” Satchell

WEST POINT — Mrs. Beverly “Baby Doll” Satchell, 69, of West Point, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Pruitt Heath Care, Greenville, Georgia. Mrs. Satchell was born Aug. 17, 1949, in Atlanta to the late Mattie Lou Graham and Percy Flemister.

Beverly received her education in the West Point public school system and graduated from Harrison High School. Following graduation. she relocated to Long Island, New York, where she lived for more than 30 years. While living in New York, she accepted her Lord and Savior under the ministry of the late Rev. Schambach. She later united with the St. Paul A.M.E. Church under the leadership of the Rev. Kim Singletary. She was a faithful and dedicated member.

Beverly was employed as a nurse at Mercy Medical Center for many years. While in New York, she met and married Lawrence F. Satchell, who preceded her in death.

“Baby Doll,”  as she was known by many, was a sharp dresser. She would be matching from head to toe. She would spend hours shopping in the mall and various retail stores.

Beverly’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending quality time with them.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Hugh Hurston, Charles Graham, Dorothy Mae Jones and Jimmy Lee Ford.

Beverly leaves to cherish her loving memories six children, Alexander Flemister, Katrina Johnson, Carlos Ogletree, Tona (Jaja) Davis, Marcus Satchell, and Lauren (Sean) Crews; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, two of whom she raised as her own, Alexander (Marquez) Ogletree and Lauren (Peaches) Satchell; her three adopted daughters, Lisza (Kelli) Clark, Dawn Santos, and Gia Biggs; her best friends, Barbara Easton, Dorothy Swanson and Judy, whom she referred to as her homie, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Satchell will be held Friday, April 5, 2019, at 10 a.m. EDT at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Dr. W.T. Edmondson, pastor, the Rev. Troy Thomas serving as the eulogist, with the Rev. Maxine Thomas and the Rev. Gary Fanning assisting. The remains will lie in state at the church on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 9 a.m. EDT until the funeral hour.

Interment will be held at a later date in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Ms. Julia Flemister, 1202-B, E. 11th Street, West Point..
