Mr. Dale A. Richards, Sr., 72, of Birmingham, passed away on May 24 at the Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born on June 7, 1946, in Fairfield to the late Ralph Lambert Richards, Sr. and Virginia Collignon Richards. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Lambert Richards, Jr.

He was a member of the Liberty Church in Birmingham.

Mr. Richards was a man of faith who loved the Lord and read his Bible on a daily basis. He loved reading the Bible to his wife, Hilda, and together they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in less than two weeks.

He was also an avid Auburn football fan.

Mr. Richards is survived by his wife, Hilda R. Richards; children, D. Allan (Laura) Richards,
Jr., Christopher (Allison) Richards, Mona (Cory) Ferguson; grandchildren, Abigail, Isabella, Laura Sophia, Jaden, Sarah, and Elijah; sister-in-law, Katie Richards; niece, Tamela Lowery; nephews, Gregory Couch, Chris Richards.

Funeral services will be held on May 29 at 10:30 a.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral HomeChapelinValley. PastorDannySmithandtheReverend Bill Stamp will be officiating the services. A graveside service will be held following the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham at 1:30 p.m. CDT. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. EDT until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in his memory to the Liberty Church, 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35216.
