Mr. J. T. “Jake” Miles — 1933-2019

Funeral services for J. T. “Jake” Miles, 86, of Five Points, were held on  June 4 at 2 p.m. CDT at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Ellison officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Cemetery. 

The family received friends at the funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m. CDT on June 3.

Miles passed away on June 2 at his residence.

Survivors include: one son, Wayne Miles (wife, Jeri), of Five Points; three stepdaughters, Sue Sheppard (husband, Richard), of LaFayette, Ann Bledsoe (husband, Jim), of LaGrange, and Phyllis Harris (husband, Jack), of Auburn; four stepsons, Hewell Bishop (wife, Joann), of Woodland, Tommy Bishop (wife, Betty), of Roanoke, Frank Bishop, of Lafayette, and Darrell Bishop (wife, Kaye), of Lanett; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Gray, of Tumwater, Washington, Pauline Thrower of Hughley, and Ann Bullard (husband, Donald), of Hughley; one brother, Johnny E. Miles (wife, Iris), of Lanett.

Pallbearers were Miles’ grandsons and friends Landon Miles, Jason Miles, Jacob Miles, Bobby Kendrick, Mike Wilson and Stephen Sheppard.

A Lanett native, Miles was born on April 9, 1933, the son of Lee Robert and Ivy Bell Crenshaw Miles. He worked as an equipment operator for the Chambers County Highway Department. Miles was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Susie Mann Miles.
