Mrs. Mae Katherine Brooks, of Valley, and former resident of Elyria, Ohio, died on June 8 at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for June 15 at 1 p.m. from Chosen Generation Worship Center in LaFayette. Apostle Willie Eva Hicks will be the officiant.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Valley. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing. Public viewing is scheduled for June 14 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. EDT from Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel. 

Having resided in Elyria for more than 40 years, she was an active member of the Original Church of God in Elyria and retired from Elyria City Schools where she was a lunch aide at Roosevelt School and also worked as a head start teacher and bus driver.

Brooks is now reunited with her husband of 49 years, the late Jesse B. Brooks.  Her survivors include three daughters, Chrystal Brooks, Valley, Carmen Brooks-White (Phillip), Elyria and Celeste (Steven) Gay, Lorain, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jeston (Jaclyn), Chaynacie, Yvonne, Raymal, Cedric, Kiyan and Vanessea; seven great-grandchildren; step-brother, Earl Shores (Patricia); god-daughter, Laurie (Sandy) Jones; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
