The Valley High School Combined Classes recently held their reunion Saturday at Sunny’s Home Cooking Restaurant. Two Valley High School graduates, Janna Bell and Jacob Carroll, were each presented a scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
Janna Bell, daughter of Jeth and Dale Bell, is attending Southern Union State Community College this summer. She plans to continue her education there this fall, where she will complete her core classes before attending nursing school to obtain her RN.
Jacob Carroll, son of Heath Carroll and Jennifer Smith, plans to further his education at Southern Union State Community College this fall. At Southern Union, he will complete his core classes before transferring to Auburn University, where he will work to obtain his paralegal certificate. At this month’s reunion, the VHSCC had 50 people in attendance. The group is hoping their recent requirement change, which allowed all Valley High graduates to be a member, will result in an increase in attendance. Previously, only VHS alumni who had been graduated for 50 years could attend the meetings.
Along with eating and talking with one another, the group spent time reminiscing on high school memories, such as the rivalry between Valley football and Lanett.
The next VHSCC meeting will be held Aug. 5 at Bradshaw Library.
