Mr. Joel Carter, 82, of LaGrange, passed away on July 16 at LaGrange Hospice in LaGrange. Carter was born in Columbus on Sept. 28, 1936, to the late Marvin and Grace Carter.

Carter was Plant Manager at Extol Manufacturing in Ohio before retiring in LaGrange. Carter loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an active member of Roper Heights Baptist Church.

Carter was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Judy Worrell.

He is survived by wife Joe Anne Carter, of LaGrange; daughter Patti (Hoss) Caldwell, of LaGrange; sons Jeffery A Carter, of LaGrange, and Michael R Carter, of Cusseta; grandchildren Joshua (Amanda) Carter, Ashley (Randell) Ruston, Joseph Carter and Ruth Anne Carter, all of LaGrange; sister Mary Mulford, of Eclectic, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends for visitation on July 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at Bluffton Funeral services in Lanett. Services will be on July 20 at 1 p.m. EDT at Roper Heights Baptist Church in West Point. A private graveside service will be family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or LaGrange Hospice.
