Mrs. Faye J. Tines — 1933-2019

Mrs. Faye J. Tines, 85, of Lanett, passed away on July 22 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. 

Tines was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Lanett to the late F.C. and Pearl Hendry.

Tines was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Tines; sisters, Dolly Humphry and Katie Quinton; brothers, James T. Hendry, William Hendry, George F. Hendry and Raye Hendry; son-in-law, David Pickard; daughter-in-law, Angie Tines; grandson, Michael Doughtie; and several very special angels.

Tines leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters, Teresa (Joe) Doughtie and Kathy Pickard; two sons, Eddie (Angelia) Tines and Everett Tines; seven grandchildren, Jim Pickard, Lauren Pickard, Bud (Shannon) Doughtie, Erin (Troy) Smith, Erica Tines, Nick (Crystal) Tines and Zack Tines; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Tines attended Lanett City Schools. On Jan. 5, 1956, she married the love of her life, James E. Tines. She retired from West Point Stevens (CCR) in 1993. After retiring from West Point Stevens, she worked at Lanett City Schools for several years. She enjoyed completing needlework and other craft projects. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of Happy Valley Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on July 25 at 2 p.m. EDT at the Happy Valley Baptist Church with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery. The Rev. Floyd Aikens and the Rev. John Samanie officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Happy Valley Baptist Church on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT.
