LANETT — Registration is well under way for the 38th annual Walt Meadors/Valley Haven Benefit Golf Tournament. The entry deadline is noon on Thursday, Aug. 1 with the one-day tournament taking place on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Point University Golf Club.
“It’s an 18-hole scramble with four-person teams competing in shotgun-style format,” said Valley Haven Executive Director Craig Brown. “Last year’s tournament drew 80 golfers, and we hope to increase participation this year. For those who would like to sign up for this year’s tournament, $60 will cover everything: range balls, greens fees and cart fees for the day. It also includes one mulligan. The fee for a four-person team is $240.”
For entry forms or for more information, contact Craig Brown or Jo Ellen Weldon at Valley Haven School. They may be contacted at Valley Haven School at (334) 756-7801 or (334) 756-2868. By email, it’s jweldon@valleyhavenschool.org.
“You may contact any West Point Rotary Club member for information,” Brown added. “If paying by check, please make it out to Valley Haven School and mail it to: Golf Tournament, P.O. Box 416, Valley, AL 36854. Registration fees are tax deductible.”
Each year, members of the West Point Rotary Club help organize the event as one of the club’s service projects. The event is named in memory of the late Walt Meadors, a long-time Rotarian who supported Valley Haven School and other worthwhile community projects for many years.
