A Valley man has been arrested for murder following an apparent stabbing at Lee County Bar and Grill on Saturday.
Sidney Austin Harmon, 27, from Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris. Later on Saturday, Phillip Warren Wood, 50, was arrested and charged with one count of murder, according to a press release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Wood was released from the Lee County Detention Facility after posting a $100,000 bond.
“At approximately 1:30 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call to an altercation at the Circle W Bar in the 13000 block of Lee Road 379 in Valley,” a press release distributed by Harris said. “Upon arrival by deputies, they found 27-year-old Sidney Austin Harmon, of Valley, with no signs of life and CPR being performed on him by bystanders.”
The Circle W Bar and Grill lists a Valley address, but falls under the jurisdiction of Lee County as opposed to Chambers County.
Efforts on behalf of EMS to revive Harmon were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 2 a.m., according to the press release.
“It appears Harmon had suffered a possible stab wound to the chest,” the press release stated. “It is unclear at this time as to what transpired leading up to the altercation and exactly how many were involved.”
Another man was taken to EAMC Lanier in Valley with non-life-threatening injuries as well.
The incident remains under investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
