Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Miles — 1942-2019

James Thomas “Tommy” Miles, 77, of West Point, passed away on Aug. 2 at his residence. Tommy was born in West Point on Jan. 5, 1942, to the late Hilliard and Ida Miles. Tommy was a retired Lieutenant with the West Point Police Department. He was a graduate of West Point High School and worked on the Arkansas Pipeline before joining the West Point Police department. He was a member of Reeds Chapel Baptist Church.
Tommy loved the simple things in life and the “Georgia Bulldogs.” He loved spending time with his family and his true companion his dog, Harley.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda; his son, Jeff Miles; and his sister, Evon Miles Fields.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Ken) Hitchcock and Brooke (Alex Maldonado) Miles; his grandchildren, Brittany Stapleton, Leslie Kowalczwk, James Hitchcock, Madison Bartlett, Maycee Bartlett, MaLeah Maldonado, Sheila Miles, Jeffery Miles and Josh Miles; and many greatgrandchildren.
The family will greet friends for Visitation on Aug. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EDT at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett. Funeral services will be on Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. EDT at Reeds Chapel Baptist Church, West Point. Graveside services will follow at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point.
