Mrs. Shirley M. Turner — 1944-2019

Mrs. Shirley M. Turner, 75, of Valley, passed away on Aug. 17 at her residence. 

Mrs. Turner was born in Hamilton, Georgia on July 14, 1944, to the late Willie Aubry Myers and Essie Sue Jet Hale Myers. 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Gooden, Roxie Adamson; brother, Sonny Myers.

She attended Sunset Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in West Point. 

She was worked in the textile mills and before she retired worked at the Valley One Stop. She was an avid University of Alabama football fan. She loved her family and grandchildren. Her hobbies include working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. 

She is survived by her children, Debra (Vincent) Morgan, Connie (Darryl) Rodgers, Cindy Norrell, Roger (Lisa) Gaylor, James Myers, Jeffrey Myers, William “Bill” McKeehan and Tony Myers; siblings, Marlan “Buck” Myers, Herman Myers and Margie Carson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held on Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley with interment following in Fairfax Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 10 a.m. EDT until the service hour. 

Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Rodgers, Jason Duncan, David Duncan, A.J. Lemons, Joe Duncan, Haven Gaylor, and Bryan Scott.
